The Olympic Truce, which dates back to the ancient Olympic Games of Olympia in 776 BC, aims to ensure the cessation of hostilities, allowing the safe passage and participation of athletes and spectators during the Olympic and Paralympic Games. The IOC reinstated the tradition in 1992, and it is now presented ahead of every edition of the Games.

The Olympic Truce resolution for Milano Cortina 2026 will be formally presented to UN Member States by the Government of Italy, in close collaboration with the IOC, the International Paralympic Committee, and the Milano Cortina 2026 Organizing Committee.

Giovanni Malagò, President of Milano Cortina 2026, will present the resolution before the UN General Assembly on behalf of Italy, followed by statements from Member States and remarks from IOC President Kirsty Coventry.
