Chablani and Ferrier conclude an impressive COTECC Year
Rahil Chablani ended the year in the Central American & Caribbean Tennis Confederation (COTECC) on a high note by reaching the boys’ doubles final at the Copa Pura Vida in Costa Rica. The Surinamese tennis player ultimately secured a well-deserved silver medal.
Chablani teamed up with Costa Rican player Sebastian Carvajal. In the final, they faced Antonio Bermudez and Fabian Pozuelo. Although they lost the first set 2-6, they fought back to win the second set 6-3. However, the decisive third set ended in a 3-10 loss to their opponents.
“A milestone to be proud of: Rahil ends the year with his highest ranking ever, number 18 in Central America and the Caribbean. At the start of 2024, he was ranked 70th, which underscores his perseverance and tremendous progress,” wrote the Surinamese Tennis Association (STB) on social media. “Next year, Rahil will move up to the U-18 category, where we are sure to hear even more from him.”
Cybelle Ferrier also had an exceptionally successful year. “Cybelle climbed from 112th to an impressive 16th place in the COTECC region. With one more year remaining in the U-14 category, the path to further growth and success is wide open for her,” said the STB. “Her focus and hard work demonstrate what is possible. The year 2025 promises to be exciting, where she can further realize her potential.”
The STB concluded with a proud message: “Congratulations to Rahil and Cybelle for these outstanding achievements. You showcase what Surinamese talent can accomplish. We look forward to even more success in 2025!”
