General Evaluation Session Focuses on Centro Caribe Sports Executive Committee Meeting

A total of 5,037 athletes have already qualified for Santo Domingo 2026, representing 88.6% of the projected total for the Games.

During its second working day, members of the Executive Committee of Centro Caribe Sports reviewed several progress reports during the in-person sessions held in the Dominican Republic.

The Marketing Commission, led by Felipe Vicini, presented updates regarding international television rights, highlighting progress that surpasses what was achieved in previous editions of the Games. It was also reported that the Organizing Committee will oversee local broadcasting rights, which will be distributed among three television networks.

In addition, it was announced that on Saturday, May 30, a forum will be held with potential broadcast partners of the Games to present the IBC technical guidelines.

In the technical area, the Games’ Technical Director, Tony Meza, reported that 5,037 athletes have currently qualified for Santo Domingo 2026, representing 88.6% of the expected total participation. He also indicated that approximately 6,100 athletes are projected to compete, which would mark a historic figure for the Central American and Caribbean Games.

The different commissions also presented updates related to logistics, operations, and general services ahead of the event.

International Media Services

The International Media Services area presented updates related to the media coverage plans for Santo Domingo 2026, highlighting the organizational commitment, infrastructure, and vision behind Games that aim to leave a lasting mark on the sporting history of the region.

It was also announced that journalists and media professionals from different countries will participate in a virtual seminar prior to the Games, where they will receive firsthand information about the preparations, venues, and the impact of hosting the Central American and Caribbean Games in the Dominican Republic.

Santo Domingo 2026 continues to establish itself as a meeting point for sport, culture, and integration across Central America and the Caribbean. The Centennial Games will feature specialized services for international media, including ICT guidance, digital content services, and modern press rooms across the different sports venues.
