Bogotá served as the stage for the International Congress on Safe Sport and Gender Equity, a forum that brought together key figures in sport to discuss its present and future. There, Olympic medalist Mariana Pajón not only shared her knowledge and experiences, but also projected her message toward the Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026.

Recognized for her outstanding career in BMX, Pajón reaffirmed her role as a leader both on and off the track, sharing her perspective on equity, athlete protection, and holistic development, in a stage of her life also defined by her transition into motherhood while continuing as a high-performance athlete.

“Thank you for all the support and affection… during this transition as both an athlete and a mother,” she said in conversation with Centro Caribe Sports.

Following her participation, the Olympic champion delivered a special message to athletes across the region who are on the road to Santo Domingo 2026, emphasizing the importance of embracing the journey and approaching the challenge with determination.

“To all the athletes who will experience the Central American and Caribbean Games, keep dreaming, enjoy the process. We will see each other there with many victories and medals for your countries,” she stated.

Pajón also expressed her close connection with the sports movement in Central America and the Caribbean, as well as her enthusiasm to be part of the Games environment once again.

“I always feel a lot of warmth and closeness with Santo Domingo… it’s a place that excites me and one I always want to return to. Hopefully, we’ll be there very soon,” she concluded.
