Julien Alfred wins bronze in the 60m at the World Indoor Championships
Saint Lucia’s Julien Alfred once again showcased her excellence in global sprinting by winning the bronze medal in the 60 meters at the 2026 World Indoor Championships.
The race was won by Italy’s Zaynab Dosso, who clocked 7.00 seconds, followed by the United States’ Jacious Sears in 7.03, while Alfred completed the podium, also with a time of 7.03 seconds.
The road to the final
Alfred reached the decisive stage showing consistency throughout the earlier rounds. In the semifinals, she recorded a time of 7.04 seconds, advancing confidently to a final that brought together the fastest sprinters on the international circuit.
The semifinal rounds highlighted the high level of the event. Athletes such as Zaynab Dosso (7.00) and Dina Asher-Smith (7.03) set the pace in their respective races, while competitors like Patrizia Van der Weken (7.05) and Jonielle Smith (7.03) also secured their spots in the final.

In the final, the start and transition phases proved decisive. Dosso imposed her rhythm from the opening meters to secure gold, while the battle for the remaining podium positions remained open until the finish line.
