Los Angeles 2028 Makes History With Athletics Schedule
The Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games continue to draw admiration for their attention to detail, and for the first time ever, athletics will span the entire Olympic calendar, running from 15 to 30 July — something unprecedented in the history of the modern Olympic Games.
Sprint Queens on Opening Day
The competition will open with the women’s 100m on the very first day, where our Central American and Caribbean region will showcase its fastest talents on the track, including Olympic champion Julien Alfred.
The historic schedule will conclude with the men’s marathon during the Closing Ceremony. In total, there will be 17 finals across 20 sessions.
Mixed 4x100m Relay Makes Its Debut
Everything is set for stars like Sha’Carri Richardson and Noah Lyles to make history. The LA Memorial Coliseum will become the cradle of speed.
“We want an opening with an explosion,” said Shana Ferguson, LA28 Chief of Sport and Operations, who described the women’s 100m as “one of the most-watched races of the Games.”
