With a vibrant cultural performance featuring traditional dancers in Mexico, the journey of the Central American and Caribbean torch toward Santo Domingo 2026 will officially begin.

The symbolic ceremony will take place on April 11 at the Teotihuacán archaeological park, with the participation of the President of the Mexican Olympic Committee, María José Alcalá. The event will culminate with the lighting of the flame in front of the iconic Pyramid of the Sun.

The flame will arrive in the Dominican Republic on April 12 via private flight.

The so-called “New Fire” will be handed over to Centro Caribe Sports authorities by Olympic medalist Gabriel Mercedes.

Following this, the flame will begin its journey through the southern region at the end of April, covering various communities from Pedernales to Baní.

The information was provided by Juan José Guzmán, Head of Events for the Games, who highlighted as a novelty that the entire route will be broadcast live, 24 hours a day, through the official website of the Central American and Caribbean Games.

This ceremony represents the official start of the road to the major sporting event to be hosted in Santo Domingo and evokes ancestral rituals and the spirit of unity among the peoples of the region.
