Yulimar Rojas sets record at the Copa Iberdrola and becomes 2026 world leader
Yulimar Rojas once again confirmed her dominance in the triple jump by winning this Saturday at the 45th edition of the Spanish Women’s Club Championship, Copa Iberdrola, held at the Palau Velódrom Luis Puig in Valencia, representing FC Barcelona.
Rojas secured victory with a commanding leap of 14.95 meters, a mark that established a new meet record, surpassing her own previous record of 14.79 meters set at the 2017 edition in Madrid.
With that performance, achieved on her first attempt, Rojas also clinched qualification for the 2026 World Indoor Championships and positioned herself as the world leader of the young season.
She opened with a decisive 14.95 meters that defined the competition from the outset, followed by a foul on her second attempt, a 14.43-meter jump on her third, another foul in the fourth round, and opted not to take her fifth and sixth attempts, strategically managing her advantage.
Cuba’s Liadagmis Povea (Diputación Valencia C.A.) finished second with 13.96 meters, while Ana Estrella (Unicaja Jaén Paraíso Interior) placed third with 12.98 meters.
The 2026 World Athletics Indoor Championships are scheduled to take place from March 20 to 22, 2026, in Toruń, Poland.
