As part of the monitoring and oversight process for the Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games, Centro Caribe Sports President Luis Mej\u00eda Oviedo, and member of the Games\u2019 Technical Commission, conducted an official tour of the sports venues being prepared to host this historic centennial edition of the regional event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The visit was led by Mej\u00eda Oviedo alongside Jos\u00e9 Monegro, President of the Santo Domingo 2026 Organizing Committee, and included the participation of Carlos Bonilla, Minister of Housing and Buildings of the Dominican Republic, as well as a team of engineers and contractors responsible for executing the projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the tour, the authorities carried out a thorough inspection of the various sports facilities, reviewing timelines, technical standards, and delivery phases. In this context, it was confirmed that construction is progressing according to a solid schedule, showing extraordinary advances that reflect the strong commitment of the Dominican organizing team\u2014led by President Luis Abinader\u2014to the success of the Games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Centro Caribe Sports reported that its Executive Committee has maintained constant and detailed supervision of all working commissions operating in Santo Domingo, in line with the organization\u2019s governance model and institutional support framework. In this regard, it was announced that during the first week of 2026, members of the Executive Committee will once again be in the Dominican capital to strengthen several key commissions as preparations enter the final six-month phase prior to the Games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Within the scope of this supervision, Mej\u00eda expressed his full satisfaction with the level of execution achieved in sports infrastructure and presented a series of strategic plans and projects that will be announced in the coming days through the Centro Caribe Sports Directorate of Strategy and Projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among these initiatives is the creation of an international communication channel, designed to share ongoing updates on Santo Domingo 2026 directly and consistently with member countries and National Olympic Committees across the region. Additionally, the launch of the \u201cHuellas\u201d (Footprints) project in 2026 was announced\u2014an initiative aimed at strengthening international confidence and credibility throughout the entire Games organization process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u201cHuellas\u201d project will focus on accompanying and documenting the experiences of athletes, sports leaders, coaches, and National Olympic Committees, ensuring standards of quality, transparency, and legacy in every action carried out on the road to Santo Domingo 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games will be held from July 24 to August 8, marking the centennial edition of the oldest regional multi-sport event on the continent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
