From March 20 to 22, 2026, the world\u2019s top athletes will gather in Kujawy Pomorze, Poland, to compete in the World Athletics Indoor Championships, an event featuring 27 medal events across three days of high-level competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The competition will bring together established stars and rising talents of international athletics in a setting that will set the tone for the 2026 season and project the leading contenders toward the next key milestones of the Olympic cycle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Central America and the Caribbean will once again have a strong presence at the event, with athletes arriving as leading figures in their respective disciplines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the women\u2019s triple jump, with the final scheduled for Saturday, March 21 at 19:38 (local time), Venezuela\u2019s Yulimar Rojas\u2014Olympic champion and multiple world champion\u2014emerges as one of the top contenders for the podium, alongside Cuba\u2019s Leyan\u00eds P\u00e9rez, reigning world champion and one of the rising stars of the event. They will be joined by Dominica\u2019s Thea LaFond, Olympic champion and World Indoor champion, who has established herself among the world\u2019s best.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the men\u2019s event, the triple jump final will take place on Friday, March 20 at 19:35, where the region also holds strong medal hopes with Cuba\u2019s L\u00e1zaro Mart\u00ednez, 2022 World Indoor champion, and rising talent Andy Hechavarr\u00eda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mexico will aim to make an impact throughout the championships across several events: Uziel Mu\u00f1oz will compete in the shot put final on Sunday, March 22 at 11:30, while high jumper Erick Portillo will contest the final on Saturday, March 21 at 12:15. In middle-distance, Eduardo Herrera will compete in the 1,500 meters, with heats on Friday, March 20 at 18:54 and the final scheduled for Sunday, March 22 at 18:38.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The championship will also feature major global stars such as Saint Lucia\u2019s sprinter Julien Alfred, who will compete in the 60 meters, with rounds beginning on Saturday, March 21 at 11:05 and the final set for 21:20 later that day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For the Dominican Republic, sprinter Liranyi Alonso will also compete in the women\u2019s 60 meters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bahamian hurdler Devynne Charlton will be another standout, aiming to make history in the 60m hurdles, with heats on Sunday, March 22 at 12:55, followed by semifinals at 18:52 and the final at 20:13.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
