Bahamian athlete Devynne Charlton once again etched her name in the history of world athletics by winning the gold medal in the women\u2019s 60m hurdles at the 2026 World Athletics Indoor Championships, equaling her own world record of 7.65 seconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The final did not start perfectly for the Bahamian. An uneven start tested her composure, but her ability to recover made the difference in the closing meters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis victory was very important. I already had two titles and wanted a third to establish myself as the greatest of all time. It wasn\u2019t a good start\u2014I stumbled a bit\u2014but I recovered and got it done,\u201d she said after her performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The silver medal went to the Netherlands\u2019 Nadine Visser with 7.73, while Poland\u2019s Pia Skrzyszowska took bronze, also clocking 7.73 and setting a national record.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lasting impact in Poland<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Devynne Charlton\u2019s performance was part of a strong showing by Central American and Caribbean nations, who once again reached the podium at the 2026 World Indoor Championships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bahamas celebrated Charlton\u2019s gold, while Cuba secured the women\u2019s triple jump title with Leyan\u00eds P\u00e9rez. Venezuela earned silver through Yulimar Rojas, and Mexico added another medal with Erick Portillo in the high jump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Colombia also stood out with Natalia Linares\u2019 bronze in the long jump, Saint Lucia reached the podium with Julien Alfred in the 60 meters, and Trinidad and Tobago added a medal in the 400 meters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jamaica also delivered a solid performance with four medals (two silver and two bronze). Among their highlights were Kishane Thompson\u2019s silver in the 60 meters and Jordan Scott\u2019s runner-up finish in the triple jump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
