Since its inclusion in the official programme of the Games at Maracaibo 1998, triathlon has experienced steady growth across the region. Mexico, Colombia, Cuba, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Bermuda have established themselves among the sport’s leading nations, producing outstanding performances while developing athletes who have also excelled at the Pan American Games and the Olympic Games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The growth of triathlon in Central America and the Caribbean has been shaped by athletes who have left a lasting mark on the sport. Bermuda’s Flora Duffy, Olympic champion at Tokyo 2020 and multiple-time world champion; Mexico’s Crisanto Grajales, a four-time Olympian and one of the region’s most accomplished triathletes; Colombia’s Elizabeth Bravo, one of South America’s leading triathletes; and Puerto Rico’s Manuel Huerta, an Olympian and continental medalist, reflect the discipline’s continued growth and international projection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At the 25th Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, triathlon will feature 56 athletes, evenly divided between 28 men and 28 women. Competition will take place on July 24 and 25 at Sans Souc\u00ed, where the region’s leading triathletes will face a course designed to test their endurance, strategy and preparation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Every edition of the Games confirms that triathlon is about much more than crossing the finish line. Every swim stroke, every kilometre on the bike and every stride on the run reflect the determination of athletes who refuse to give up.
