EL SALVADOR.- Representatives of the Organizing Committee of the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023 (COSSAN2023) and members of the Medical Commission of Centro Caribe Sports began this Friday the second review of the plan for the Games to be held from June 23 to July 8.

“We are making a second review of the entire medical plan for the Games and the anti-doping plan, and we have seen a presentation of the inter-institutional plan from the medical point of view, which includes care and emergencies,” said Milton Pinedo, anti-doping director and secretary of the Centro Caribe Sports Medical Commission.

Pinedo detailed that among the aspects they analyzed were environmental health care, food, fumigation, solid waste and issues related to prevention and medical attention during the Games.

“If the approved plan is executed as it is on paper, it will leave a very important legacy for the Central American and Caribbean Games as well as for the people of El Salvador and the Central American and Caribbean area”, commented the doctor.

The Dominican explained that a new coordination visit will take place between February and June, and that a medical congress will be held on June 21.

“It is a well elaborated plan with the integration of many institutions, which will allow the Games to develop, from the medical point of view, with a fluidity and excellence that if not stopped, it is possible that we will not have any failure in the organization”, said Pinedo, who added that “we feel very satisfied with the medical plan that El Salvador has elaborated for these games through the Ministry of Health, the organizing committee and the National Institute of Sports of El Salvador (INDES)”.

The anti-doping director recommended Salvadoran institutions to remain focused on the work, because the Games are an important challenge to have the machinery in the best possible shape.

This Saturday the planning of the medical congress of the Games will be developed and work will be done on the anti-doping control plan, which is one of the fundamental parts of the fair.
