HISTORIC OPENING CEREMONY EXPECTED AT PARIS 2024

In a few hours, the Paris 2024 Olympic Games will be inaugurated from the Seine River, with a boat parade of 206 National Olympic Committees and the Olympic Refugee Team.

For this edition of the Games, the Olympic Channel, the official channel of the IOC, will use new technologies to provide a totally different experience for viewers who will be enjoying the Delegation Ceremony from their homes.

Yiannis Exarchos, CEO of the IOC’s OC Olympic Broadcaster Service, revealed that each delegation will be able to live their own experience, thanks to the IOC’s agreement with Samsung, who will provide a cell phone for each delegation during the parade.

“It is the biggest ceremony in the history of the Olympic Games and the biggest television production we have ever done,” Yiannis commented very excited when talking to Centro Caribe Sports.

Exarchos indicated that as a producer, this is the first time he will use more than 120 cameras, more than 200 cell phones, thirteen helicopters, eight drones, eight ships have been built especially for tonight’s Opening Ceremony.

CONTENT ALL THE TIME

The CEO of Olympic Channel’s OBS, indicated that times have changed and that it is essential for the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to maintain daily content so that the public does not lose interest in the Olympic movement.

During the conversation, he pointed out to the National Olympic Committees (NOCs), saying that the IOC is open to share all the content that the countries need, but the NOCs must get closer to maintain their relevance.

“We can’t just have the games every two or four years, we always have to do things day by day, especially for the young public,” commented the IOC OBS director.

The Opening Ceremony will start at 7:30 p.m. French time from the Seine River.
