María José Alcalá reelected President of the Mexican Olympic Committee

A historic moment was written this Monday, October 28 at the Mexican Olympic Committee (COM), since during the Ordinary General Assembly of Associates 2024 of this organization, the Mexican sports family unified to give continuity to the project of María José Alcalá Izguerra for the period 2024-2028, in which the director of CONADE, Rommel Pacheco Marrufo and the president of the Sports Commission of the Chamber of Deputies of the LXVI Legislature, Paola Michel Longoria López, were present.

During the session, which was attended by 95 national sports directors, María José Alcalá Izguerra received the backing of the assembly members who unanimously gave her their support to continue at the head of the Olympic organization in a cordial and united atmosphere.

“From the first moment I presented my candidacy, I knew that I had to face challenges and obstacles, but thanks to the permanent members and presidents of National Federations who gave me their support, I managed to be at the head of this noble institution and now we are going for another challenge,” he said.

He mentioned that in this new stage he will strengthen the unity among all the members of the national sport, “together we have strengthened every moment where there was opposition and we came out stronger. This showed us that we are ready to fight battles as a team and with unity”.

Alcala Izguerra expressed his confidence and gratitude to each one of the assembly members before whom he committed to work with transparency, solidarity and under a good governance in a historical period that the sport of the country is living, “this new Olympic cycle is directed towards modernization and team work, we will be at the level of the athletes and the National Federations”.

He stressed that achieving goals requires commitment and constant work, even when immediate results are not observed and urged the need for collaboration between the National Federations and the Olympic Committee to create the best conditions for athletes and overcome historic achievements.

Finally, he called for working together for the good of sport, promoting meaningful change and supporting athletes in their development and success.
