After Almost a Year of Recovery, Yulimar Rojas Aims for Her Return
Venezuelan athlete Yulimar Rojas, Olympic champion and multiple world champion in the triple jump, is getting closer to her long-awaited return to competition after recovering from an Achilles tendon injury suffered in April 2024. The athlete, who missed the 2024 Paris Olympics and other key events of the season, has worked tirelessly on her recovery and could be back in competition in the coming weeks.
Recovery with Faith and Determination
Since her surgery in April, Rojas has shared her recovery process through social media. One of her most significant posts came in September, when she was finally able to run again on the track. “After five and a half months away from the track, I reconnect with it this way: dancing with positivity and joy. It’s been a time of hard work, challenges, but also of infinite faith.”
Although she couldn’t compete during the Paris 2024 Olympics, Rojas remained active in the Olympic Village, training and engaging with the athletic community. Her presence symbolized resilience and commitment.
An Imminent Return
Rojas and her team are evaluating the possibility of her return to competition and have their sights set on major events like the 2025 Diamond League and the Outdoor World Athletics Championship in Japan.
“This journey hasn’t been easy, but I’ve always believed that with consistency and patience, anything is possible. Today, I’m closer to my full recovery and closer to overcoming this stage,” Rojas recently stated. “No matter how long or difficult the path, with effort, faith, and hope, dreams come true. Let’s keep moving forward, with love and eyes focused on what’s to come.”
A Legend
To date, Yulimar Rojas holds the world record in the triple jump with 15.74 meters, a mark she set at the 2022 World Indoor Championships in Belgrade. Her Olympic gold in Tokyo 2020, with a jump of 15.67 meters, solidified her as one of the most dominant athletes in her discipline.
Now, after almost a year of recovery, Rojas is more motivated than ever to return to the track and continue expanding her legacy in world athletics.
“All of this has transformed me and driven me to keep going. It’s been a tough journey, and I’ve learned from this and from myself. I’ll continue giving my best,” she concluded.
