ANKLE INJURY DOES NOT STOP AUDRYS NIN’S GOOD PERFORMANCE

Jun 30, 2023

SAN SALVADOR.- An injury in the right ankle did not completely stop the aspirations that Audrys Nin had for these Central American and Caribbean Games of San Salvador.

The goal that the Dominican had set for himself was to surpass his performance in Barranquilla 2018, when he won three medals (one gold and two bronze), despite the discomfort with which he competed in this opportunity Nin fulfilled his desire and won four medals individually (one gold, two silver and one bronze).

“My challenge since I arrived here was to surpass my results from Barranquilla,” expressed Audrys, who won gold in vaulting, silver in all-around and horizontal bar, as well as bronze in the pommel horse apparatus.

Despite the goal he had set for himself, he was concerned about how well he could perform with the discomfort plaguing his ankle.

“I only gave seventy percent of my level because the injury I have causes me a lot of pain,” Nin revealed.

He noted that had he not had the discomfort he would have achieved two or three more medals.

“I wanted more but it was difficult for me,” he indicated.

He said that regardless of all the ailments, being in San Salvador 2023 has been a great experience.

Nin’s next missions will be the Pan American Games, the World Cup and the World Cups.
