AUDRYS NIN ACHIEVES LONG-AWAITED QUALIFICATION FOR OLYMPIC GAMES

Jun 29, 2024

After 16 years of work and sacrifice, Audrys Nin has qualified for the Olympic Games, and will make his debut in Paris 2024, by winning the only ticket for the continent from the Pan American Games, Santiago 2023.

He achieved the quota in the All-Around event, beating athletes from Chile, Mexico, Colombia, Argentina and Puerto Rico, placing fifth in the event held in the capital of Chile.

Nin thus becomes the first male gymnast from the Dominican Republic to qualify for an Olympic event, and together with Yamilet Peña, who competed in London 2012, are the only Quiqueyans in this sport in the world’s most important multi-sport event.

“It has become a dream come true. Super happy that I am going to fulfill an Olympic dream,” said the athlete in statements to the Dominican Olympic Committee.

At the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games, Audrys became a two-time champion in Vault, after also winning the gold medal in the Lima 2019 edition.

NIN’S LOOK AT PARIS 2024

During 2024 and prior to the Olympic Games, the Dominican was competing in various international events, in which he has obtained great results, including the silver medal at the World Cup held in Slovenia, in the Vault modality.

It should be noted that he continues to work to arrive in the best of conditions, both mentally and physically.

OLYMPIC CALENDAR

Artistic gymnastics is scheduled from July 27 to August 5, and will be held at the Bercy Arena, located in the same city of Paris.
