BOXING AT THE PARIS 2024 OLYMPIC GAMES: CENTRAL AMERICAN AND CARIBBEAN PROTAGONISTS

The Paris 2024 Olympic Games promise a show full of emotions in the boxing ring, with a series of crucial clashes for the preliminary rounds.

These are the bouts for this Tuesday, July 30, from Central America and the Caribbean:

Starting with Cuba’s Alejandro Claro Fiz, who will compete in the round of 16 in the 51 kilogram division, against Brazil’s , Michael da Silva, scheduled from 11:16 a.m., French time.

Then it will be the turn of Dominican Cristian Pinales, who will defend the 80 kg, against Tuohetaerbieke Tanglatihan of China, from 11:48 a.m., seeking to advance to the quarterfinals.

Another pugilist from the region who will be in the ring is the 51 kg Pan American champion, Yunior Alcántara from Quisqueyano, who will face the double European champion, Nijat Huseynov from Azerbaijan, at 3:30 in the afternoon, French time, being the first bout of the afternoon session.

Alcantara did not have to compete last Saturday after getting a bye that took him straight to the round of 16, placing him two wins away from securing the bronze for the Dominican Republic.

The Caribbean line-up continues with the debut of Juanma Lopez Jr. of Puerto Rico in the 51 kilogram category, starting at 8:16 p.m. Paris time, against Hasanboy Dustmatov of Uzbekistan, in the Round of 16.

Later, scheduled for 8:48 p.m., Cedrick Belony-Duliepre of Haiti will be facing Wanderley de Souza of Rio de Janeiro in the 80 kilogram category.

In the same category, Arlen Lopez of Cuba, but scheduled for 9:20 p.m., will face Kaan Aykutsun of Turkey.

This day will also feature exponents of the fists and gloves on the women’s side, when Yeni Arias Castaneda of Colombia, will be facing the native of India, Preeti, in the Round of 16, starting at 9:52 p.m., in the 54 kg division.

And to close Tuesday night’s boxing, Omailyn Alcala of Venezuela will face Julia Szeremeta of Poland in the 57 kg division, starting at 10:24 p.m.

The Paris 2024 Olympic Games boxing tournament, in its preliminary phase, takes place at the North Paris Arena, while the fights from the Quarterfinals onwards, at the Roland Garros.
