The Executive Commission of Centro Caribe Sports (CCS) held its first meeting with the Organizing Committee of the Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games as part of the preparations.

The president of the Organizing Committee, José Monegro, welcomed Sara Rosario, Secretary General (Puerto Rico); Ciro Solano, Treasurer (Colombia); Hans Larsen, 1st Member (Haiti); and Curio Cameron, 3rd Member (Barbados). Alongside them, Luis Mejía Oviedo, President of Centro Caribe Sports, reviewed the progress in areas such as the official competition calendar, training programs for work teams, strategies to recruit volunteers, and proposals for selecting technical officials.

Monegro explained the planned management model in which the operational structure is gradually being installed, supported by four international airports: Las Américas Airport, Punta Cana Airport, Cibao Airport, and Joaquín Balaguer Airport.

For his part, Luis Mejía Oviedo, President of Centro Caribe Sports, expressed his confidence in the realistic and objective timeline, which ensures the great success of the centennial games of the Central American organization.

Health of the Games in Good Hands

José Joaquín Puello presented the health plan, highlighting his experience as a synonym for reliability and trustworthiness. From July 24 to August 8, 2026, the 25th Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026 will take place, marking the centennial games of Centro Caribe Sports.

The meeting reinforced Centro Caribe Sports’ commitment to ensuring that Santo Domingo 2026 becomes a historic and successful sports event for the region.

The Executive Commission will continue its work sessions over two days, inspecting the progress of sports facilities.
