CENTRO CARIBE SPORTS JOURNALISM SEMINAR BEGINS WITH SUCCESS

JUAN DOLIO, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC.- The I Training Program for Sports Journalists and Reporters of Centro Caribe Sports, began this Monday with four presentations and 23 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) members present in the Manatí Room of the Coral Costa Caribe Hotel located in this locality.

Beginning at 9:30 a.m. with welcoming remarks by the President of the regional sports organization, Luis Mejía Oviedo, he emphasized that this seminar is part of the HUELLAS project.

Mejía also thanked the 14 NOCs members of Centro Caribe Sports who connected via the Zoom platform to receive the information contained in this program, which will conclude this Friday.

“This seminar is made for you, the NOCs, and I thank you for your presence in this room, you will receive a series of valuable information from the guest speakers,” said also the IOC Member.

Prior to the first guest of this training program, Juan Guerra, Project Director of Centro Caribe Sports, gave a small preview of the different topics and the importance for the National Olympic Committees and those who execute the information.

Among the speakers of this first day were Bryan Fernandez, Head of Physiotherapy of the National Sports Institute of El Salvador (INDES), who spoke about communication in sports medicine.

Salvador Almea continued with a presentation on Ethics in communication and the behavior of communicators and journalists in the different situations that arise.

The third speaker of Monday’s session was Rossi Alvarado, an expert in the use of applications to obtain good results in sports investigations.

Julissa Morel, who concluded the presentations, spoke about the differences between communication, public relations and the director of communications, as well as the steps or processes to be taken according to the importance of the information in a specific situation.

This Tuesday the lectures will continue at 9:30 a.m. in the same place.
