COLOMBIA WEIGHTLIFTING CHAMPION IN SAN SALVADOR 2023
SAN SALVADOR.- The Colombian weightlifting delegation became the champion of this modality in the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games, San Salvador 2023, after winning 19 gold medals.
During the four days disputed in La Cuna del Mรกgico, inside the Jorge “El Mรกgico” Gonzรกlez National Stadium, Colombia dominated 10 of the 16 divisions.
The total number of medals won by the Colombian weightlifters was 26, thanks to the 19 gold, five silver and two bronze, a record that surpasses those achieved in the Central American and Caribbean Games, Veracruz 2014, where they won 23, with 12 gold, and the Barranquilla 2018 edition, with 24, 16 gold.
For this discipline, eight delegations climbed the podium, where in addition to Colombia, followed Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Cuba and Mexico, to formalize the TOP-5 of the list.
Weightlifting offered 32 medals in dispute in each color at the San Salvador 2023 Games, where the delegation of Independent Athletes of Centro Caribe Sports added two silver medals in the medal count, while Nicaragua and Puerto Rico, both delegations, registered two bronze medals.
In addition to weightlifting, beach volleyball and judo are the sports that culminated in the competitive calendar of the Central American and Caribbean Games, San Salvador 2023.
