COSSAN PRESENTED LOGISTICS AND PLANS TO DELEGATIONS FROM CENTRO CARIBE SPORTS AND SANTO DOMINGO

EL SALVADOR.- The different area heads of the Organizing Committee of the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023 (COSSAN2023), made this Friday, a broad presentation of the logistics and the respective work plans to the representatives of Centro Caribe Sports and to the delegation of the Dominican Republic.

Security, Medical Service and Doping, Volunteer Program, NOC Support and Service, Technology and Communication, Transportation and Food, were the areas of which details were provided to the international visitors who are in the country.

Miguel Mejía, head of security, was the first to explain the security plan for the Central American and Caribbean Village, as well as the venues and the transportation of the respective delegations that will participate in the regional competition from June 23 to July 8.

“For the Games, the Security Department has the direct support of the Armed Forces, the National Civil Police and other institutions that are working directly”, said Mejía.

Dinora Acevedo, general director of San Salvador 2023, indicated that the Salvadoran government is seeing the Games as a country issue. “On the security issue there has been a lot of coordination and the structure we have seen is working,” Acevedo stressed.

In the area of Medical Service and Doping, Rafael Morales, from applied sciences of the National Sports Institute of El Salvador (INDES) and coordinator of this area, gave details of the inter-institutional plan that will be implemented during the San Salvador 2023 Games.

For his part, Hugo Salazar, head of the Volunteer Program, gave a broad explanation of the volunteer recruitment process.

“The idea is not to have volunteers for the sake of having them, but to have them fulfill a function. They are going to be our ambassadors, they will help us solve situations,” said Salazar.

The theme of Support and Service to NOCs, as well as Transportation and Food, was developed by Lucrecia de Calderón, secretary general of COSSAN2023.

José Armando Tavárez, Nelson Ramírez, César Heredia and Tomás Polanco are part of the delegation of the Dominican Republic’s sub-host, and valued the transfer of knowledge as positive.

The Caribbean country will host seven sports of the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023, which are: shotgun shooting, racquetball, taekwondo, equestrian, canoeing, field field hockey and pentathlon.

“We arrived on Thursday in El Salvador to coordinate with COSSAN all the organizational aspects of the sub-venue that we will have and we came to coordinate in the areas of Transportation, Accommodation, Security, Technology and everything related to logistics,” said Polanco, coordinator of the Santo Domingo sub-venue.

For his part, the Colombian Julio Roberto Gomez, member of the technical commission of Centro Caribe Sports, expressed satisfaction with the progress made in the logistics of the San Salvador 2023 Games.

“The explanation and the integration of the work teams of El Salvador and Santo Domingo were very important, as technical commission we are very pleased with the progress in the organization of the different commissions and we have made positive progress”, said Gomez.
