Dodger Stadium: The Diamond That Shines Again at the Olympics

Apr 21, 2025

By Helen Acevedo | CCS Correspondent || Incredibly, there’s a stadium where the curves of baseball and Olympic dreams have crossed more than once. We’re not talking about a European giant or just any multi-purpose stadium, but the legendary Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, which will once again feel Olympic fever in 2028… 44 years later!

In fact, Dodger Stadium, inaugurated in 1962, will be one of the few stadiums in the world that can boast of having hosted two different editions of the Olympic Games. Although baseball wasn’t an official sport in 1984, the stadium hosted an exhibition game that many still remember. It was the first time baseball snuck into the Olympic program, like someone who crashes a party uninvited, only to end up winning everyone over.

By 2028, baseball will return as an official sport (thanks to the Games being held in a sports-loving city), and Dodger Stadium will host the most anticipated games of the Olympic baseball tournament. Not bad for a stadium that’s over 60 years old, yet still looks like it’s 30.

Dodger Stadium, a historic gem

And if we’re talking history, Dodger Stadium is a gem in itself:

  • It’s the oldest stadium in the National League.
  • It has hosted 11 World Series.
  • And if that weren’t enough, it’s seen legends like Sandy Koufax, Fernando Valenzuela, and Clayton Kershaw launch magic from the mound.

What’s most interesting is that, in a city full of modern venues, the Los Angeles 2028 organizers chose to return to the classic the stadium with soul, one that has seen generations of fans and unforgettable moments. It’s as if history were saying: “This is where baseball and the Olympic Games first greeted each other… and here they will meet again.”

So if in 2028 you see a home run in the middle of August, surrounded by flags from around the world, don’t be surprised. Dodger Stadium is used to making history.
