DOMINICAN REPUBLIC MAKES HISTORY WITH DRAW AGAINST EGYPT IN OLYMPIC FOOTBALL

Jul 24, 2024

The soccer teams of the Dominican Republic and Egypt played to a goalless draw (0-0) at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, in a match held at La Beaujoire Stadium, located in the city of Nantes, France.

From the beginning of the match, both teams showed their solid defense, creating equal scoring situations on the field, but without getting results.

In the second half, the Dominican team maintained their tactical order in defense, keeping their firmness and standing out, despite having no results in their efforts to break the tie.

In the 57th minute, the referees disallowed a goal by Peter Gonzalez, which put the Dominican team ahead.

“I think Peter’s goal is absolutely legal, and although we ended up tying, he is not going to the showers happy,” said Ibai Gómez, technical director after the game.

For the Dominican Olympic Committee as a country, it is a historic milestone to have the debut of soccer in the Olympic Games.

The Dominican Republic will face the Spanish national team next Saturday 27th, starting at 3:00 p.m. French time (9:00 a.m. Dominican Republic time).
