In a press release sent by Centro Caribe Sports, it indicates that the Esports will be held on July 8 at the Cinemateca Dominicana located in the Plaza de la Cultura, and will be a qualifier for the Pan American Esports Championship in Santiago de Chile, prior to the Pan American Games in October 2023.

For Mejía, the activation of Esports in the next Games is a great opportunity to offer the athletes of the region an event that has been present in the different events of the continent, and is a way of development among the athletes of the member countries of Centro Caribe Sports.

“It is a great honor for CCS to receive GEF, and to activate Esports for the entire Caribbean and Central America”, were the words of Mejia when signing the agreement.

The IOC member also emphasized that “it will be an exhibition event”, and that the presence of these games in the oldest regional Games in the world, is a start to be part of a big world like Esports.

The XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games, San Salvador 2023, is scheduled from June 23 to July 8, where the Dominican Republic will be sub-host, in addition to Esports, in canoeing, equestrian, field hockey, pentathlon, racquetball, shotgun shooting and taekwondo.
