From Bermuda to the Heart of America: The Aim of a Dream

Jul 12, 2025

Jaydon Roberts, a Bermuda archer, made his name in the history of youth sports in his country by qualifying for the Asunción 2025 Junior Pan American Games. His journey is a testament to perseverance, precision, and heart.

It all began in Medellín, Colombia, where 18-year-old Roberts participated in the Pan American Archery Championship as part of his preparation. But it was in Santa Tecla, El Salvador, where his true challenge began, during an intense week marked by two crucial events: the Junior and Master Pan American Championships, and the Qualifying Tournament for Asunción 2025.

In the first, Jaydon finished in twelfth place, competing with emerging talent from across the continent. But more importantly, he remained focused on the real goal: securing one of the ten available spots for the Junior Pan American Games.

And then the moment of truth arrived.

In the qualifying tournament, Jaydon placed among the top 16 U-21 archers on the continent. His first qualifying matchup was against Canadian Fazeel Ferouz, whom he defeated convincingly 7-3, following an unexpected last-minute change in the draw. Then, in the quarterfinals, he faced Colombian Ludwin Holguin, losing 6-2, which ended his quest for the podium, but not his dream.

Bermuda in his sights: the next goal is Asunción 2025

Thanks to his outstanding performance, he finished in sixth place, securing direct qualification for the 2025 Junior Pan American Games and, with it, a historic spot for Bermuda.

“We prepared for this and achieved our goal,” said his coach and father, Ross Roberts, who accompanied him every step of the way. His mother, Trina, assistant coach, also watched with emotion every arrow shot from more than 3,000 kilometers away.

“I feel immense pride in Jaydon. He’s worked hard and deserves it,” she said.

With the target 70 meters away and under the pressure of representing his country, Jaydon demonstrated maturity and poise. His journey has not only been a sporting experience, but also a family story of love, sacrifice, and unconditional support.
Thus, from the green islands of the Atlantic to the fields of El Salvador, Jaydon Roberts leaves his mark, ready to write the next chapter in Asunción 2025.
