HISTORIC GOLD MEDAL FOR DOMINICA AT PARIS 2024
What a night! Thea LaFond of Dominica, became Olympic champion in the triple jump, giving her country its first medal in the Olympic Games, jumping 15.02 meters in her second attempt and a headwind of 0.4 m/s.
For LaFond, this is the result of a demanding Olympic cycle in which she always tried to improve in every step, together with her coach, Aaron Gadson.
The Caribbean island’s triple jumper beat Jamaica’s Shanieka Ricketts, who totaled 14.87 meters (-0.7 m/s) and USA’s Jasmine Moore, who did 14.67m (+0.7 m/s).
Thea was the only athlete in this event to jump 15 meters, clinching the Olympic title on her second attempt of the competition in the French stadium.
