INTERNATIONAL CANOEING TECHNICAL DELEGATE INSPECTS INSTALLATIONS
SANTO DOMINGO.- Allan MacDonald recently visited the National Rowing and Canoeing Center located at the Rincón Dam, in the province of Monseñor Nouel (Bonao), to inspect the facilities that will serve as the venue for the competitions corresponding to the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games, San Salvador 2023.
The International Technical Delegate for the Canoeing discipline, in addition to inspecting the facilities, held a meeting with the technical members of the Dominican Republic sub-host, and Bernardo Mesa, representative of Centro Caribe Sports, in which he discussed issues related to the organization of the competition.
Canoeing is one of seven sports disciplines of the San Salvador 2023 Games to be held on Dominican soil, as a sub-venue. The others are taekwondo, equestrian, pentathlon, racquetball, clay pigeon shooting and field field hockey.
Among these issues were: verification of the qualified countries, date of the competition, approval of the competition schedule, designation of COPAC technical staff, international and national staff.
Other aspects discussed at the meeting were: accommodation, food and transportation of participants and international authorities; national technical and support staff, volunteers, all the medical aspects, and everything related to the required sports equipment.
MacDonald received the required information from Professor Nelson José Ramírez, in charge of the technical area of the Organizing Committee; from Henry Puello, coordinator of the Canoeing discipline, and from Víctor Tejada, vice president of the Dominican Canoeing Federation and national technical director, and from Mr. Mesa, technical director of Centro Caribe Sports.
MacDonald valued the venue of the Canoeing competition, defining it as “one of the great centers in America”; he also showed his satisfaction for the organizational work done by the Organizing Committee and said he was very convinced that this competition will be a success.
For his part, Tejeda was pleased with the support received from the Organizing Committee and COPAC to make this event a success.
He considered that the organization of this competition is a great step for the development of the sport in the Dominican Republic, and that the commitment and dedication of all those involved ensure that it will be an event of the highest level.
