JULIEN ALFRED ADDS SECOND MEDAL FOR SAINT LUCIA
St. Lucia’s Caribbean sprinter, Julien Alfred, has enhanced the name of her country and the Caribbean by winning her second Olympic medal at the Paris 2024 Games, after finishing second in the final of the women’s 200 meters, held on Tuesday at the Stade de France.
Alfred finished the competition with a time of 22.08 seconds and a headwind of 0.6 m/s, escorting the American, Gabby Thomas, who timed 21.83, leaving the third position to the American, Brittany Brown, who finished with 22.20 seconds.
Current Olympic champion in the 100 meters, showed satisfaction at the end of the final of this athletics event, who has been responsible for the first two Olympic medals for the Saint Lucia delegation.
Also a world indoor champion, Alfred has brought two Olympic medals to Saint Lucia, a National Olympic Committee that came to this Olympic event without having experienced being on a podium. She is the first athlete to win two medals in athletics at Paris 2024.
