MARILEIDY PAULINO: MATURITY AND STRENGTH IN PARIS 2024

Jul 29, 2024

From the Stade de France, on Monday, August 5 at 11:55 a.m. Paris time, the first round of the women’s 400 meters will take place, where the Dominican star, Marileidy Paulino, will seek to make history at the 2024 Olympic Games.

“We are already in Paris and I feel good. We were warming up on the track in the rain, but that didn’t stop us. The negative can also become positive,” she says.

Paulino, who owns two Olympic silver medals, one in individual in the women’s 400m flat and another as part of the 4x400m mixed relay team, both achieved in Tokyo 2020, arrives at her new destination metallized and focused.

“The difference between Tokyo and Paris is that I was not a favorite before. I think these Games will be amazing because the public supports its people and that fills us competitors with energy,” she commented.

This new stage in her career, she is in a different position: more evolved and with the support of thousands of fans who believe in her ability to reach new goals. “Before, my physical and mental condition was not as strong as it is now. Right now people see me differently, like in the eye of the hurricane as they say,” she says.

The Dominican sprinter, who was also champion of the Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023, maintained that she remains calm and focused. “I enjoy and enjoy the race. I don’t think about my opponents. What goes through my mind is that I worked to be able to get here and have the race that I am going to have”, she maintains.

GOOD ENERGY FOR MARILEIDY

Paulino wants to paint the flag of his country in his hair for his competition. He also expresses his joy because he arrived at the Olympic event with his best company: his mom.

“She gets nervous and says that when I’m going to win, she feels it. I like to give her the luxury of living things and God knows how to do things. He has allowed my mom to be with me in the Olympic Games, as well as my coach who had two years without traveling with him”, says the double world champion.
