MEJÍA OVIEDO ANNOUNCES CENTENARY SUMMIT DATE OF CENTRO CARIBE SPORTS

ASUNCIÓN, PARAGUAY.- The President of Centro Caribe Sports, Luis Mejia Oviedo, announced through the LXII General Assembly of Panam Sports, held in the Paraguayan capital, the date on which the Centennial Summit of the organization will be held.

The date set it’s for November 11 to 16, in Panama City, said Mejia Oviedo.

“We have an event with the countries that are here, members of Central America and the Caribbean, and given the accumulation of events we have had to change it for next month,” said the President of the regional sports organization.

In addition, Mejía advanced some of the details that this Centennial will have, during a turn granted in the assembly of Panam Sports.

We are going to have Governance, Women and Sport and also a technical and environmental part,” said the IOC Member.

The book of the project ”HUELLAS, Memories of Central America and the Caribbean”, was also delivered at the session to all those present at this meeting of the leaders of the Americas.

Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), is in his last assembly in Central America and the Caribbean, after not running for the elections to be held in March 2025.

Mejia, also addressed the IOC President, stressing the endurance of his legacy. “Mr. President, your speech and your legacy does not stay in one day, but it can stay in one minute and two words: friends forever,” he concluded.

The LXII General Assembly of Panam Sports is being held at the CONMEBOL Convention Center, in Asunción, and ends on October 3.

Centro Caribe Sports has on its agenda the celebration of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games, Santo Domingo 2026, where the Centennial of the regional Games will be held.
