TABLE TENNIS DELIVERS FIRST MEDALS IN SAN SALVADOR 2023

SAN SALVADOR.- The fight for medals in the Team Table Tennis of the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games, San Salvador 2023, in its second day, yielded the first finalists in the Polideportivo El Polvorín.

In the men’s team, the quartet of Puerto Rico showed its superiority, dominating Costa Rica 3-0, while Venezuela managed to defeat the Dominican Republic team, to win 3-1 and advance to the semifinals.

The Centro Caribe Sports Independent Athletes Team overcame Guyana 3-1, making history as the first team to advance to the podium in the Independent Athletes category, while Cuba also secured its place in the semifinals by defeating Barbados in four sets.

In the women’s team category, Puerto Rico showed its favoritism with sisters Adriana and Melanie Diaz, Brianna Burgos and Alondra Rodriguez, defeating El Salvador 3-1.

The Dominican Republic overcame the team of Atletas Independientes de Centro Caribe Sports in a great duel in five sets, while Cuba did the same with the team of Venezuela with a score of 3-2. Mexico completed the list of finalists in this modality by defeating Colombia 3-1.

This Friday, opening day of the San Salvador 2023 Games, will have its first medals in dispute starting at 10:00 a.m. (local time), with the semifinal rounds and at 12:15 p.m., the team finals.
