TAEKWONDO TEAM KYORUGUI WILL MAKE ITS DEBUT IN SAN SALVADOR 2023

Taekwondo adds to the program of the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games, San Salvador 2023, the Team Kyorugui modality, a proposal that translates into the first inclusion of this format in Multisport Games worldwide.

“Team Kyorugui is a very personal project of the Pan American Union because we wanted it to be official in San Salvador 2023 and we achieved it,” says Juan Manuel Lopez Delgado, President of PATU and Vice President of the World Taekwondo Federation.

This sport is part of the events to be held in the Dominican Republic’s sub-venue, along with canoeing, equestrian, field field hockey, shooting, racquetball and pentathlon.

“We are very honored to take a step forward with the first inclusion of Team Kyorugui in Multisport Games, in the Central American and Caribbean 2023,” reiterates the taekwondo leader in the Americas.

Qualifiers for San Salvador 2023
Honduras, Costa Rica, Mexico and Cuba in the women’s division, while Mexico, Cuba, Colombia and Puerto Rico qualified in the men’s division, quotas achieved during the Team Kyorugui tournament held last February 22, in the Qualifier for the Central American and Caribbean Games, San Salvador 2023, at the Palacio de los Deportes de Heredia, in Costa Rica.

“We had a great participation with eight teams per gender in this Qualifier to San Salvador 2023”, indicated the PATU holder in a press release sent by the organization.

This taekwondo modality has been confirmed by Panam Sports to be an official event in the XIX Pan American Games, Santiago 2023.
