THE OLYMPIC TORCH SHINES IN MARTINIQUE ON ITS WAY TO THE OLYMPIC GAMES IN PARIS 2024

The Olympic Flame is on French Caribbean island territory, in Martinique, the island that received the historic Torch on Monday morning, as part of the global journey towards the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The torch arrived in Robert in a skiff. Martinique’s first relay started in Lamentin, with ร‰mile Catan carrying the torch. This added a large number of spectators in the vicinity, looking to catch the Olympic flame with their eyes. Francette Florimond was also part of the relay.

Four-time European champion swimmer Caroline Balmy was the one who lit the flame in the Olympic cauldron in Martinique.

The Olympic Torch also passed through Le Lamentin, where the public lined the streets to admire the flame. The enthusiasm of the schoolchildren was particularly noticeable. Earlier in the day, the flame passed over Mount Pelรฉe, adding a touch of majesty to the route.

This was received with great enthusiasm, welcomed with a colorful celebration, led by the inhabitants of the island where even the school children were very present witnessing the flame.
