Yulimar Rojas returns to competition in Spain

Mar 03, 2025

Venezuelan Yulimar Rojas, Olympic champion and multiple world triple jump champion, will return to action next Sunday, March 9, in the long jump event at the Salamanca City Athletics Trophy. This event will mark her return to competition after her recovery from an Achilles tendon injury suffered in April 2024.

A long-awaited return

The event on the Carlos Gil Pérez indoor track will be crucial for Rojas.

The last time the Venezuelan competed in the long jump was on July 21, 2023 at the Monaco Diamond League, where she recorded a jump of 6.61 meters.

In her indoor career, her personal best is 6.81 meters, achieved on February 17, 2022 at the Hauts-de-France Pas-de-Calais Meeting in Liévin. In addition, Rojas holds the Venezuelan national record for the discipline with a jump of 6.88 meters outdoors, achieved in 2021 at the National Club Championships in La Nucia, Spain.

High level

The event will feature the presence of outstanding athletes such as Carmen Rosales, current Spanish champion, and Evelise Veiga, Portuguese champion and Olympic athlete. Rojas’ presence at this event generates great expectations, not only because of her return after injury, but also because of the possibility of seeing her compete again in the elite of world athletics.

His team has worked meticulously on his recovery and planning for his return to competition. Salamanca, a legendary place where several world records have been set, has a special meaning for his coach, Iván Pedroso, who achieved his personal best of 8.71 metres in this same city on 18 July 1995.
