Apr 12, 2024

Yulimar Rojas, seven-time world champion, champion of the Pan American, Central American and Caribbean Games, as well as triple champion of the Diamond League and winner of the triple jump title at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, will miss the summer event in Paris, France.

The absence of the Venezuelan athlete is due to an operation she underwent this Thursday, after injuring the Achilles tendon in her left leg last Saturday, during her training for the events prior to Paris 2024.

In a statement made by the athlete herself on her social networks, she informed about her health situation, which surprised the athletics world.

“To my Venezuela, to the family of the Olympic and sports movement, especially to my followers, I would like to inform you that I will not be able to participate in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games,” reads the first lines of the lanky athlete.

Rojas, who earned her ticket to this summer’s Olympic Games by winning her first Central American and Caribbean Games title, San Salvador 2023, will not be able to defend her title won at Tokyo 2020.
