CARIBBEAN COUNTRIES MEET GOALS IN THE BAHAMAS

Eight teams from four Caribbean countries, managed to qualify to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, during the World Athletics Relays, held at the Thomas Augustus Robinson Stadium in Nassau, Bahamas, held this weekend with the participation of ten Central American and Caribbean delegations.

The Bahamas, Jamaica, Dominican Republic and Trinidad and Tobago were the nations of the region that obtained tickets to next summer’s Olympic Games.

Jamaica’s men’s and women’s 4x100m and 4x400m relays, as well as the women’s and mixed 4x400m relay, sealed their qualification to Paris 2024, making the island the delegation with the largest number of teams to this summer’s most important event, with four.

Meanwhile, Trinidad and Tobago had the opportunity to qualify two relays for the Olympic athletics competition, with its women’s 4x100m and men’s 4x400m teams.

The locals, meanwhile, made a thrilling qualification in front of their home crowd on Sunday afternoon when the 4×400-meter mixed relay, secured their place when their star sprinter, Shaunae Miller-Uibo, crossed the finish line in 3:12.81, setting a new national record.

The Dominican Republic also qualified for the mixed 4×400 relay on Saturday.

CARIBBEAN PARTICIPATION IN NASSAU

A total of seven Caribbean delegations gathered at the World Relay Athletics Championships, with the integration of Barbados, Cuba and Guyana, in addition to those already mentioned.

For the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, 16 teams will compete in the relays, where 14 of them have qualified from this World Athletics in The Bahamas, while the remaining two teams will be chosen through the ranking, where the two best relays not classified will obtain their classification confirmation.
