Jul 23, 2024

Paris (July 23). – Welcome to Paris! With this energetic phrase, the President of Centro Caribe Sports, Luis Mejía Oviedo, begins an agenda of meetings in the framework of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, to strengthen ties between the organization and member countries.

On Monday afternoon, Mejía held a meeting with the Dominican ambassador to France, Mrs. Rosa Hernández de Grullón, in which they shared impressions on various activities to be carried out by the Dominican delegation at La Casa Dominicana, starting on July 25.

For the IOC member, this approach is important because “the Dominican government offers an intimate space of support to the athletes” during the Olympic Games, an event that opens on Friday, July 26.

“I want to give testimony and thanks to the work of the ambassador to the government of France, how happy I am to see the deployment of activities, to such a great responsibility as the Olympic Games,” said the president of the regional sports organization.

Rosa Hernández de Grullón thanked President Mejía for his visit, as well as for the experiences shared to fine tune the details of the different events to be held from July 25 until the end of the Olympic Games.

Mejía was accompanied in this visit by Mr. Felipe Vicini and Mr. Manuel Luna, President and executive director of Creando Sueños Olímpicos (CRESO), in charge of the logistics of La Casa Dominicana, together with the Dominican Olympic Committee and other Dominican entities.

Both Vicini and Luna valued as positive the integration of Centro Caribe Sports to this meeting.

THE MEANING OF THE DOMINICAN HOUSE

This space will serve as a meeting point for Dominicans to watch the competitions, share with the athletes, and be part of a series of activities during Paris 2024, including a Centro Caribe Sports gala.

The Dominican House, located behind the Arc de Triomphe, will be equipped with a gaming room for the athletes who visit the place to feel relaxed, as well as a table tennis table, billiards, and several screens to enjoy the Olympic Games.
