Running for Two: The Unforgettable Footprint of Joselyn Brea

Centro Caribe Sports Press – October 11, 2025
The morning of the Gatorade Caracas Rock race felt different. Among thousands of runners, one figure moved forward with steady steps, a calm smile, and a story beating within another. Joselyn Brea was now running with two hearts. Seven months pregnant, the Venezuelan athlete chose not to stay home but to live a unique experience — a metaphor for her life: to keep moving forward, even as the body changes and the path demands a new rhythm.
Brea completed the 10-kilometer route through the capital in 40 minutes and 31 seconds, without pushing herself beyond simply enjoying the moment. “I went to enjoy it because the Caracas Rock is one of my favorite races. My sister was running, and I wanted to experience it differently — slower, more consciously. I didn’t think it would have such an impact, and I’ve received messages from women, men, and children of all ages. It’s something really beautiful,” she shared emotionally with Centro Caribe Sports.
The story had a perfect ending: her sister Edymar Brea won the women’s category with a time of 34 minutes and 3 seconds, and waited at the finish line to place the finalist medal around Joselyn’s neck — a gesture full of love and a shared belief: nothing is impossible.
The Woman Behind the Champion
Joselyn Brea is a two-time Pan American champion, triple gold medalist at the 2023 San Salvador Central American and Caribbean Games (1,500 m, 5,000 m, and half marathon), and an Olympic finalist in Paris 2024. Her athletic career has made her one of the most prominent figures in Venezuelan and Caribbean athletics — yet one of her greatest achievements remains staying true to herself amidst the demands of competition.
“We came from a very intense routine after the Olympic Games. At the beginning of the pregnancy, it was hard to adapt mentally; I wanted to go fast, to train the same way, and it frustrated me. Marvin helped me a lot to understand that I had to enjoy the process, adapt, and listen to my body,” she explained.
Marvin Blanco, her partner, coach, and life companion, has been vital to her balance. “He knows what to do, he understands me, he reminds me that this is also part of the journey. His support has been essential,” Joselyn confessed, recognizing that behind every great athlete, there is also love, empathy, and understanding.
Home and Passion
Today, from her training base in San Antonio de los Altos, 1,500 meters above sea level, Joselyn continues to train — adjusting her rhythm, strengthening her mind and body with a clear vision: to compete again. “We have everything close by here; we train on dirt, on a circuit called La Fragua. It’s comfortable and allows us to work calmly and at the altitude we need,” she said.
Her story transcends sport. She represents thousands of women who balance dreams, body, and purpose. With every step, Joselyn reaffirms that being an athlete isn’t only about competing, but about living with passion, purpose, and love. “Pregnancy taught me to think about another person while I train. It’s a very special internal conversation — a connection that gives me strength,” she noted.
Even with the natural pause that life demands, Joselyn hasn’t stopped thinking about the future. She’s planning her return to top-level competition for the Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games, marking the start of a new Olympic cycle toward Los Angeles 2028. “Being an ambassador for the Santo Domingo 2026 Games would be an honor. I feel like I’ve earned it through my results, and it would be recognition for all this journey,” she stated.
What’s Next
Her story continues to be written with the same strength she runs with. Joselyn is already thinking about her next challenge: the Nike Run Caracas 2025, scheduled for November 2, where she will once again enjoy, compete, and prove that passion never stops.
“You can always stay active, as long as it’s done with caution and under the best medical guidance during pregnancy. We keep going,” she concluded.
